A few months ago, a friend from work approached me and asked about doing photos for her daughter’s upcoming birthday in the summer time. After a few attempts to schedule a day to shoot that was close to her birthday and have the weather cooperate, we finally got a chance to shoot on an awesome evening at a nearby park. The weather was warm and the late afternoon light was nice and golden. We decided to bring some props with us for Leah to play with including a baby rocking chair, her bunny toy, a cupcake, and of course some balloons. Leah was full of energy that day and made for some cute and fun shots. Check out the shots of Nicole and Steve having fun with Leah at the park.

Nicole + Dave // Maternity

I met Nicole and Dave through friends that suggested them to contact me for photos. Its amazing how quick word gets around about this kind of stuff. A few months ago I shot maternity for Bridget who is cousins with Nicole, but at the time I had no clue they were related! Nicole and I talked about using the same location that we shot Bridget’s photos but a last minute suggestion led us to a really cool location that had a variety of places to shoot at. Nicole and Dave were great to work with and made for another fun shoot.

Melissa + Louis // Wedding

Back in May, I got the chance to shoot Melissa and Louis’s wedding day. Recently having moved to West Virginia, both families reunited with friends and family back here in NJ for this special event. The day was filled with usual wedding day excitement and nervousness from everyone involved but the day went according to plan with the help of family and friends and made for an amazingly fun wedding event. Here are some photos from their wedding on May 14, 2011.

Boudoir with Ashley

In the past couple of years, Boudoir Photography has been becoming very fashionable and has become more than just a “passing fad” for brides to surprise their future husbands. A majority of Boudoir photos have been taken in photographer’s studio or in luxury hotel suites, which is also where this latest shoot with Ashley took place. I wanted to use the natural light coming from the windows but we ended up getting the room a little too late and caught the remaining sunlight only for a few minutes. In order to light the entire room up evenly, I had to bring out the AlienBees B800 strobe and bounce it off of the white ceiling. The room was pretty small so it was hard to get the lighting down perfectly but at the end we ended up getting a lot of great shots. Check out a few of them below.

Photo Shoot with Julie

A few weeks ago, I met up with Julie to get some updated shots for both of our portfolios. We ended up choosing a perfect day, time, and location. It was warm with another golden sunset similar to the day I shot those photos with Jennifer and Abby.

I decided to shoot at a lake that was near by because I’ve shot there before and loved the location. I had a couple ideas that I wanted to try but never ended up doing them. Instead we found a few different spots at the lake that I’ve never shot before. The sun light was hitting everything just right and made for another great shoot.

Jennifer & Abby

Over the weekend, I met up with Jennifer and Abby who were visiting from Tennessee to see some old friends. The day ended up being amazing out, warm weather and sunlight made for some great photos. This also gave me an opportunity to try out my new lens that I purchased a few days ago, a Nikon 85mm f1.4D. I always end up shooting at this park because of its size and the sun seems to hit it just right as it starts to set. There’s a large playground and several trails around the park where the kids can run around and play. Letting Abby run order was the best way to get natural shots of her having fun, without forcing her to sit down and smile at the camera. I also decided to position Jennifer and Abby in front of the sun in order to get some back lighting and get a nice glowing effect. Check out some of the shots below, hope you enjoy them!

Photo Shoot with Kristen

I recently picked up an Alien Bees B800 strobe along with a 22″ Beauty Dish and was anxious to try them out. I knew that I wanted to do a fashion/editorial shoot since my portfolio was lacking in that genre so I decided to ask my brother’s girlfriend, Kristen, since she has had some previous modeling experience when she was younger. Due to the cold weather, none of us felt like being outside for a location shoot so we just shot in my townhouse. We ended up getting some great shots just for being indoors and very little planning.
